The Nordic ballet schools’ network will organize its next, already a traditional, seminar in Helsinki, 1 to 7 August 2021. The organizer of the 15th seminar in this order will be the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet.
We have the pleasure of inviting the students and teachers / staff from the partner schools in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark to Helsinki, Finland. The event is a great tradition and a continuation of the well-established co-operation between the Nordic ballet schools.
This year´s seminar is built around the theme: The Traditions! As we all know ballet is a traditional art form of traditions. But are all of them worth saving and having? How to save the necessary ones and let go of the ones we don’t´ really need? How the latest global issues have affected to this? With what we replace the traditions that may die out?
Traditionally we will offer the students of the seminar a full week of efficient training with our wonderful staff and visitors. Students get to enjoy every day teaching in classical ballet, ballet repertoire or/and contemporary dance technique and body-conditioning. The entire staff of the seminar is highly appreciated teachers, with different backgrounds on the dancing field, and with also a tight connection to Finland, and especially to Finnish National Ballet and Ballet School. Our special Guest Teacher is Nancy Euverinck, with whom it is our privilege to be able to co-operate at last.
Parallel with the students’ course we will organize sessions for the staff members and teachers from the participating schools. These sessions will be accomplished mostly with our international special quests, this year, untraditionally, through remote contacts. We will discuss about traditions with Carina Bomers (Canada´s National Ballet school), Madeleine Onne (FNB) and Sorella Englund. The discussion, about Covid-19’s impact on our traditions and on all our work, will be led by Cynthia Harvey (ABT) and in our third round-the-table-zoom -session Clare Guss-West will present her ideas around “Attentional Focus in Dance”.
On this page you’ll find information about the seminar, its programme, staff and participation fees. For additional information please contact producer Pasi Leppänen: firstname.lastname@example.org.
